Barry first completed a BSc in Sports and Exercise Science at the University of Limerick in 1999. In 2002, he completed a BSc in Sports Rehabilitation at the University of Salford, England. In 2003 Barry undertook the CSCS exam and became a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. He is a CORU registered Physiotherapist. He is working in private practice for 24 years now as a physiotherapist.
In 2010 he succeeded in becoming a Certified Athletic Rehabilitation Therapist. He frequently attends courses & conferences in the U.S and U.K, keeping up-to-date with the latest advances in sports medicine. in 2017 He was appointed as an Industry specialist for Carlow Institute of technology interview panel for Sports Rehabilitation and Athletic Therapy Degree Course. Barry has gained much experience whilst working in intense and high-pressure sports injury management situations. He is the head physiotherapist for Treaty United football club.
Barry is an avid footballer and has 5 F.A.I. Junior Cup Winners medals, 3 Munster Junior Cup Winners medals, and numerous Premier League and Cup medals with Fairview Rangers A.F.C. He was capped internationally in 2004 for the Irish Junior team. He currently coaches grass roots football with Fairview Rangers and looks after the Kennedy Cup players each year.
